In that case, I guess the error was caused by something else. Is
there any possibility that there are problems with the disk you are
attempting to write to? Maybe have a poke around in (eg)
/var/log/messages to see if there are any obvious problems.
The alternative is that there's a bug somewhere. The industry average
is about 15 - 50 bugs per 1000 lines of delivered code, although
Microsoft code after much testing in the released product contains
about 0.5 bugs per 1000 lines. If our programming is as good as that
from Microsoft (a bit optimistic), I would expect SPM8 (about 400,000
lines) to contain a couple of hundred bugs.
