Actually, if one is to give a reading, and know in advance, it should
practiced to the point where you can almost remember the poetry you are
to read. After all, you are up there on stage, the lights are on you,
there is a large audience, a microphone you need to know how to use,
someone on the mixer panel, fold back, you are being recorded, it may be
on FM radio the next day, you have to get it right. These people have
paid money at the door, at least you owe them that, if not the very best
reading you can give.
BBQ, although it looks easy, is very hard to read. That is something
else I need to consider.
