I'm slightly perplexed by all this.
I'm not familiar with this device (I believe I know which it is), but if it is using a Beam counter in the base of a unit (regardless of any software issues), then unless something very clever is being done with the beams (is it?), it's likely to be out.
Even mounted at waist level, horizontal Beam counters (Reflectors or dual-beam Reflectorless) are never very accurate when compared to a manual count done at the same time. At foot level, are they counting feet(or front and back pram or trolley wheels?) twice? Two people through the gate at one time side by side (Parent/Child) etc. etc
Is one set of issues compunding the other?
Regards

Hi Sue,
Funny you should ask.... We have the people counters on all of our branches and I've spent an incredible amount of time looking at them and getting them 'sorted'. None of them seem to have worked from the time of install bar one branch. They are not perfect and we've found that when there is no break in the beam between people entering/leaving (depending on how it is counting) you get very inaccurate results. The more traditional counters are also not perfect but far more preferable than what we've gotten from these counters.
I have found the software that begins the 'manager' that uploads the data does not always start properly and have now put in a delay at start-up which seems to have helped it begin properly. This was purely from a technical standpoint as our counter PC provides various functions that all compete for resources at start-up/logon and slowing this process between applications seems to allow them all to start without interference from each other. I don't know what your IT department allows but since I tend to run them all myself here I'm able to effect this change.
Kind regards,
Vicki

Dear all
We have a couple of sites where we have installed security gates with integral people counters as there is nowhere to affix a "traditional" people counter. We have problems in both sites, one site where the data intermittently is not transferring to the server, and another where the counter over records. I was just wondering if anyone else is using these and whether you have had any problems with them?
