It will probably be fairly hard to get many crossing fibers with only 12
directions. I had a fair amount of 5 x 12 direction data (collected before
I told them to switch over to 1 X 60 direction) and when comparing the two
datasets, one got very few crossing fibers in the 12 direction data and
plenty in the 60 direction data, despite the fact they both had the same
number of volumes acquired.
Peace,
Matt.

Subject: [FSL] Number of direction of DTI dataset
Dear all FSL experts
I have some basic questions about my newly DTI project.
Due to the 2 year follow up study, we collected DTI dataset with 13
directions in the past two years.
Besides the standard TBSS study, i also want to perform crossing fiber
analysis (compare the fractional volume of different fiber population which
calculate from BEDPOSTX). Due to the limited diffusion directions we have,
is it still valid to use these dataset to perform crossing fiber analysis
(also for QBOOT analysis)? Any suggestions will be very appreciate !
Many Thanks
Paul
