I am caught by the double edge sword playing out here. The disability movement has fought to heard and to be treated as part of society instead of pushed to the periphery. I can understand not agreeing with this gentleman's decision, but to then castigate and belittle him as a privileged and selfish man, calls into question the very lack of openness and discussion that the non- disability community has been accused of. Life can be overwhelming, and as communities of people we can do outreach to this man, his family and friends to re-engade them, but to vexatiously attack someone's personal life decisions regardless of whether you agree with them hits me as a bit of a disabilist point of privilege.
Life is terribly hard, I am not being sanctimonious, just wondering how to best engage Tony rather then further alienate him
