State of play.
This is a bug in BRugs, ironically. It is with the developers.
rbugs and R2OpenBUGS both work, though they have very similar, and just
irritatingly different syntax, and, for my money, are not quite as easy and
obvious to use. Further documentation for the OpenBUGS scripting language
would be useful. At the moment it assumes that you can check any ambiguities
by looking at the GUI, and I can't! If anyone has it, please pass it on.
For example :-
Scotland.sim <- rbugs(data=ScotlandData, ScotInits, ScotParameters,
Scotland.bug,
n.chains=2, n.iter=20000, n.burnin=1000, n.thin=4,
dic=TRUE,
bugs="/usr/bin/OpenBUGS",
bugsWorkingDir=".",
seed=5
)
in rbugs makes
"samplesBeg(251)
modelUpdate(250, 4)
...
modelUpdate(4750, 4)"
in the script file.
For R2OpenBugs, the apparently identical
"Scotland.sim <- bugs(data=ScotlandData, inits=ScotInits,
parameters.to.save=ScotParameters,
model.file=Scotland.bug,
n.chains=2, n.iter=20000, n.burnin=1000, n.thin=4,
saveExec=FALSE, restart=FALSE,
DIC=TRUE, digits=7,
OpenBUGS.pgm="/usr/bin/OpenBUGS",
working.directory=".",
bugs.seed=5,
)"
makes
"modelUpdate(1000,4,1000)
...
modelUpdate(19000,4,19000)
"
in the script file...
If anyone wants the various files to play with please email me.
Thanks to Chris for his speedy response to me.
Best wishes,
Anthony Staines
