Hi All
The conversation with Blackboard is ongoing. Having given them our specs, they came back with a proposal. Naturally, it being Blackboard, I'm not allowed to divulge the amount of money they suggested charging us for the project. In our opinion it was untenable. Negotiations are, as I say, ongoing.....

Hi Mark,
Good luck with this, I'm sure Richard and I will be keen on following this. Good to meet you at Antwerp and please do feel free to get in touch to discuss our anonymous assignment submission tool as discussed.
Best,
Simon

Hi All
Like many institutions, Bedfordshire is using Turnitin as an integration in Blackboard and this can generate grades, which we need to get as easily as possible into our Student Record System, SITS. I have been talking to Blackboard about this for some time and at the recent Bb Learn Conference in Antwerp, discussed it again. It seems that there are now quite a few similar conversations going on, and between us we arrived at the notion that it might be possible to devise a collaborative project for those UK Universities using SITS to work together with Blackboard to deliver a tool/process that would benefit all of us.
In simple terms, each unique assignment code will need to be generated from SITS and passed into the Bb Grade Centre. In our case, we'll need to make sure any provisional grades from Turnitin will need to be entered in the associated grade column. Then there will need to be a trigger to send the results back to SITS.
A consortium could share development costs, at least of core components, if not of a complete solution. Blackboard is likely to want a single billing-point and this may prove to be contentious among our Finance Departments, but I suspect this project may well be worth a try. At least we could get together to open a collective discussion with Blackboard. If you think your institution might be interested, please come back to me.
