Librarian for Hayward Gallery Library (2 days per week, 6 month fixed term contract)
£25,000 (pro rata, 2 days per week)
Southbank Centre aims to be the world's most inspiring centre for the arts. The Learning and Participation team is responsible for creating a Southbank Centre-wide creative, accessible and innovative Learning and Participation programme in support of our artistic vision, in close collaboration with all departments and external partners.
The team is responsible for developing participatory arts projects, programming the public spaces and outdoor areas and managing Southbank Centre's Collections; the Saison Poetry Library, Hayward Library and Archive and the Royal Festival Hall Archive.
The hub of visual arts activity at Southbank Centre, the Hayward Gallery plays a vital role in the UK and internationally by presenting a wide range of ground-breaking art exhibitions, project exhibitions and outdoor installations. Boasting one of the largest and most versatile exhibition spaces in the UK, the Hayward Gallery aims to place artists at the heart of its every activity and to offer visitors adventurous encounters that defy expectations.
The Hayward Librarian is responsible for the day to day management and upkeep of the Hayward Library. They will be required to provide an informed, efficient and friendly service to all Library users. The Library is an important resource for the Hayward Gallery and other Southbank Centre teams, and is open by appointment to the public.
You will need extensive experience of library work as well as a professional qualification in library and information science. You will need a thorough knowledge of and genuine interest in a wide range of visual arts publications.
