if anything is set up...you would have to have a moderator to safe guard the public. Also the moderator would have to understand human right laws, ethics guideline and international ethical issues to determine whether a study is ethical/has legimate ethical clearance.

Lee - I think this is a good idea and of course the BPS page could be linked to social networking sites and would add an official body to the mix. With the facebook idea I envisioned that researchers would suggest the page to their friends each time they added a study to build up a pool of participants who are not necessarily psychology based.
I also agree with earlier comments about providing as accurate as information about the time involved as possible. Currently I know that some of these websites advertising psychological research ask for proof of ethics approval before they post them. This seems wise but it would of course add an extra layer of administration to the site as a moderator would need to approve content. Any thoughts on this?

Good idea! Perhaps, as well, the BPS should set up a participant pool through the website or something to actively engage the general public, not just psychology persons, in psychological research? People could just log on to the website click on the research link and get involved. It might help to widen public relations. Does anyone think this idea is good?

Sounds like a good idea. Some participants might be more comfortable accessing something through FB, a "trusted" brand?

Hi all,
I am considering setting up a facebook page where researchers can post their online experiments and willing participants can access them. How many of you would be interested in something like this? Also, if there is something similar out there that advertises exclusively via social networking sites, please can you let me know the details? I know there are several brilliant websites that exist to promote participation in psychological research.
Best Wishes,
Kathryn

Subject: Practising Energy Saving Behaviours: What Would You Be Willing To Do?
Hi all,
I'm currently running a pilot survey, entitled "Practising Energy Saving Behaviours: What Would You Be Willing To Do?". It's quick to complete (approx 15 mins or less) and has been designed to include a variety of relatively interactive questions. Your participation would be greatly appreciated and I'll willingly return the favour if anyone needs help with their research. Also, if you have any feedback about the survey I'd be interested to hear it as this is just a pilot study so I'll have the chance to take feedback into consideration for my next study.

Many Thanks,
