Dear Colleagues
Two of the forthcoming PD5454 seminars, the ones in Birmingham 19th
September and London 29th November, are now full. We are continuing to
take expressions of interest for the London event and will hold a
reserve list for any returns. We are looking now for another venue in
the New Year for a third London event.
We are grateful to Birmingham University and the Cadbury Research
Library for being our local hosts and to the British Library
Preservation Advisory Centre for hosting the London event. We're
delighted also to report that the Birmingham seminar will be sponsored
by Qubiqa Ltd and the London seminar by Restore Plc. The latter is
providing a drinks reception at the end of the London seminar for which
I hope all attending will stay, along with a short case study
presentation on very low energy, passive controlled storage to PD5454
quality in historic structures.
There are still places for the seminar at Bangor University Archives on
the 24th September, where lunch will be provided courtesy of the
University. Corporate sponsors for the Bangor seminar are Qubiqa Ltd.
There will be a tour of new building improvements, due for imminent
completion, which have been designed to greatly improve the environment
in the archive strongroom using only passive control measures under NCS
guidance (the archive is a member). This should prove to be a positive
and thought-provoking example of taking the new PD5454 approach to
planning a refurbished storage environment so do consider attending the
seminar at Bangor if you have yet to decide where to join us.
There are also still places at the Liverpool seminar on the 27th
September. This event is supported by the ARA NW region and generously
hosted by National Museums Liverpool, at the Walker Art Gallery. We are
still looking for a corporate sponsor for the Liverpool seminar.
There are still places also at the Oxford seminar on the 8th of
November, which is hosted by Corpus Christi College and sponsored by
Bruynzeel Ltd, and at the Cardiff seminar hosted by Glamorgan Archives
on the 19th of November (for which we are seeking a corporate sponsor).
Anyone who has not yet done so, please send your expression of interest
in any of the available events by writing to [log in to unmask]
Please note you should not expect to get an individual reply to your
expression of interest as we have so many that we are communicating with
whole groups of people en block.
Chris
