From my perspective, the price & functionality aren't right. If they were a lot cheaper than they are, and I didn't mind google having all my data...

why iPad, why a netbook? its down to personal choices and reasons - 'why NOT a chromebook?'
might be the rather terse and rapid counter from the person who wants to use one.
If the price was right and the functionality right I might be tempted to get one of those Google systems...and later some Google glasses to pair with it etc - but I simply dont believe in relying on remote data storage for my personal data.
