Visiting Fellowship (Teaching) in Social/Cultural Geography
Department of Geography, National University of Singapore
Applications are invited for a one-year Visiting Fellowship in the Department of Geography at the National University of Singapore, commencing January 2013. Visiting Fellowships are designed as temporary full-time teaching appointments.
Candidates with research expertise in any area of social/cultural geography are welcome to apply. We particularly encourage applications from candidates who are able to teach in the areas of urban/regional development, geographical thought and/or social theory. Some experience of conducting research in Asia is an advantage. Applicants must already have a PhD or be able to demonstrate that they will have been awarded a PhD at the time of signing a contract.
All teaching at NUS is conducted in English. The successful candidate will form part of the Social and Cultural Geographies Research Group: [http://www.fas.nus.edu.sg/geog/research/core_areas.htm].
The appointee will be expected to teach not more than three modules over the two semesters in 2013 (semester 1 runs Jan – early May, semester 2 runs August – early December). The teaching will be a mixture of under-graduate and post-graduate instruction, and will include preparation, delivery and assessment. Most of the modules to be taught will already have a syllabus outline and materials from previous instructors that the appointee can adapt for his or her own use. There is no scheduled teaching between early May and August.
To apply, please submit your full CV, including names and contacts of two referees, recent teaching evaluations and a two to three page statement indicating your teaching experience and interests, and you research agenda.
Applications should be addressed to:
