I haven't seen this one while running Dartel. Is there any
possibility that your files or directories could have been moved or
deleted or had their permissions changed while the job was running?
The error happened when trying to open one of the u_* files for
writing to. As several iterations have run already, it seems that
things were OK initially. The only thing I can think of (other memory
or disk being corrupted or the file being locked for some reason) is
that either the directory containing the file disappeared or had its
write permissions changed, or the file itself had its permissions
changed. Limited disk space or quota does not seem to be the cause
(as the file existed before the error).
I don't know much about Macs, but I would guess that there is a system
log somewhere. I'm clutching at straws, but another thing that may be
worth looking into is to see if you have a /var/log/messages file so
you can check whether there have been any disk I/O problems.
Best regards,
