One post-doctoral position is presently available in the laboratory of Dr. Jinjun Liu (http://louisville.edu/chemistry/directory/faculty/jinjun-liu.html) in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Louisville, Kentucky. The research involves the spectroscopic detection and characterization of reactive chemical intermediates and molecular complexes. The hi-resolution spectroscopy lab in the Liu Group (https://sites.google.com/site/uofllaserlabs/home) currently has a laser-induced fluorescence/dispersed fluorescence spectroscopy apparatus to investigate free jet-cooled molecules and is expected to be combined with other IR or UV laser sources for double resonance spectroscopy. The experimental work in the lab is supplemented by extensive computational and theoretical works to provide supporting information from electronic structure calculations, to simulate the experimentally obtained spectra, and to give the physical interpretation of the spectroscopic results.
Well qualified candidates with knowledge and experience in molecular spectroscopy are invited to apply directly to Dr. Liu ([log in to unmask]). Please send a CV including research experience, list of publications, and two potential references. Previous hands-on experience in laser systems, optics, detection, and spectroscopy techniques such as laser-induced fluorescence, infrared spectroscopy or photoelectron/photoionization spectroscopy is necessary. Knowledge and experience in computational chemistry and instrumental programming (Labview) is highly desired.
The initial contract is for one year, renewable for a second year based on performance. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
