CILIPS is working to change its governance arrangements to make decision-making more democratic, more accountable, transparent and consistent with the requirements of the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR).
To address this issue, a CILIPS Council Task & Finish Group has been set up to consider and make recommendations on the future governance of CILIPS which take into account:
the relationship with CILIP and associated agreements;
engagement with the membership in Scotland;
the role of trustees and OSCR requirements;
affordability; and
any updates to rules and regulations.
An important part of this work by the Task & Finish Group is consultation with CILIP members in Scotland as these proposed changes affect every ordinary CILIPS member. To assist and encourage members to participate in the consultation exercise, a number of resources have been made available via the CILIPS membership website. www.cilips.org (Please note that members will need to log-in to view this information or register for access if no existing account is held.)
Regional meetings are being arranged throughout Scotland, working with CILIPS branches where possible, to allow members to engage in discussion and make their views known. Details of these regional meetings will be posted in the events section of the website.
It is hoped that the finalised version of the revised Rules and Regulations will be presented to an extraordinary general meeting at the CILIPSAutumn Gathering on Wednesday 3 October. Thereafter, elections for the proposed Trustee Board and Consultative Council will take place to allow both to commence work at the beginning of 2013.
All CILIPS members are invited to give their feedback on the proposed changes via the membership website. Alternatively, you can email [log in to unmask]
