Hi Mark
i did some work a couple of years ago while with Commissioning Support for London which is we published on-line here
http://www.londonhp.nhs.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/15-Scoping-Report-and-Resources-Handbook.pdf
I focused on identifying as much of the public domain available information at that time that was of UK origin and current (i.e. published within the previous 5 years). So I can say that unless there was sudden surge I missed in the past couple of years, its probably easier to locate a Higg's bosun than find much robust evaluative research in this area.
During the period, I also mentored a demonstrator project looking at developing peer support for people from specific BMER communities living with dementia in Hackney. Although there was an independent evaluation after I left , the project really wasn't active long enough to make much in the way of conclusion apart from recognising the much longer lead in times such developments need.

Subject: Re: Evaluation reports on information material for ethnic patients with dementia
this is a real problem - while I have spent a lifetime conducting evaluations and promoting better ethnicity relevant materials, I have also spent much of that time bemoaning the lack of proper robust evaluations! Most projects seem to be the end point, not the final publication of a review of effectiveness - probably because funding is not given to that end or for long enough - or maybe no-one really wants to know!
the DRE (developing race equality) programme had some better work (NIMHE - but much of that has probably disappeared with reorganisation of the NHS!!!)
also look at the Race for Health primary care network pages and NorthWest England's NHS HELP portal...
Afiya Trust website has links and some other work with mental health survivors but I don't remember anything much on dementia: the Alzheimers society did sponsor some projects but I don't think their reports were ever formally published.
