Hello everyone
Thanks very much to those who replied (and even attached pictures).
The majority of people do display their models in the main collection saying it is something their users really like, usually in computer rooms/clusters or just next to book shelves (some wearing stethoscopes, glasses, Santa hats etc.)
A couple of people do keep theirs in reference/behind the counter collections and do still have high usage – which is something we don’t with our collection at the moment. By the sounds of it this was because of good publicity to staff and students or because it’s mandatory for students to use the items for certain units/modules.
Although there were a couple of exceptions – the majority of respondents displaying theirs had skeletons or complete anatomical models (as opposed to disarticulated ones) which for obvious reasons would be less likely to go missing, although I think we are going to look for a way to display our whole collection and maybe just keep an eye on it.
Thanks again
Catherine
