NetIKX is an independent Community of Interest. Our focus is on the practical issues of managing knowledge and information in the workplace. Through learning and sharing, our purpose is to help and support our members in their roles and to enhance their careers, and in turn to help their organisations to gain greater value through better use and management of information and knowledge.
Our members are drawn from professionals in information, human resources, information technology, and business, representing organisations of all sizes in the private, public and voluntary sectors, and independent consultants. You can find out more about us at www.netikx.org.
We need to recruit some new Management Committee members so we are asking for volunteers to consider joining the Committee at the AGM in September.
The Committee meets six times a year, holding short meetings, two hours maximum, before our regular seminars. In between these we communicate as needed by email, Skype and the Management Committee section of the website. There are a number of tasks on offer, devising, setting up, publicising and running our seminars, managing the website and developing our membership, and we can organise these to suit the interests and skills of our team.
Being a member of the Committee offers the opportunity to develop new skills and hone existing ones, to make contacts and meet people across all sectors of the information and knowledge management profession. It can make an important contribution to your continuing professional development, (particularly if you are considering or involved in chartership, revalidation or fellowship of CILIP).
If you are not a member of NetIKX that is not an insurmountable barrier. We are confident that if you do get involved you will appreciate the benefits and join us, so please give us a try.
If you are interested or would like to know more, please contact the Chair, Suzanne Burge ([log in to unmask]). You can always come along to a Management Committee to get an idea of what is involved before you make any commitment.
