I recently asked the list about laptop cabinets/trolleys for loaning laptops and I received several responses and several requests for a summary to the list.

The choice of models reflects our requirements (ie max 15-20 laptops, network connection as well as charging, no requirement for integrated self-issue functionality), but the comments at the end include all responses I received from other libraries including those who are offering self-service laptop loans.  This is a slightly amended version to the one that I produced for internal use.

Subject: Storage cabinets for laptop loans

Dear all

We are considering the introduction of a laptop loan service, loaning out laptops within the library environs.  I'm doing some research on the specialist laptop cabinets available (used for storing, charging and software updating) and would be interested in finding out which models and suppliers other libraries are using.  In addition, any comments on their performance, ease of use, support from the supplier, costs and the success of such an operation would be welcome.
