Hi Tony,
It's been a pleasure to know you through the years and I wish you all the best for a happy retirement. You'll be very much missed for the reasons Alison has outlined already.
Best wishes
Louise

Hi Tony,
I am sure all of us who have had the privilege of knowing you will appreciate the tremendous work that you've done over many years on our behalf will want to echo Alison's perfectly summarised comments. You will be sorely missed.
It has been a pleasure to know you and I hope that you have a wonderful retirement.
Cheers

Dear Tony, [please note this is a deliberate reply to the whole list and not just Tony]
In addition to your contributions to Glasgow University and the Scottish library scene, you will be very much missed by the wider academic library community and the wider publishing world. Your up-front and behind-the-scenes contributions to UKSG, several JISC Collections Working Groups, SCURL, SHEDL (and countless other bodies with impenetrable acronyms) have been integral to the moving forward from the print to "e- era" and to finding models that begin to meet the requirements of all the partners involved. You have done this with diplomacy, grace and good humour which has eased these processes for many people!
I am personally delighted to have had the opportunity to wish you well at the 2012 UKSG Conference and to see your future retirement marked at that event.
With very best wishes for a long and happy retirement,
Alison
