Dear colleagues,
I have just spend a very enjoyable couple of hours examining the second (2010) edition of the "Atlas géopolitique des espaces maritimes. Frontières, énergie, pêche et environnement" edited by Didier Ortolland and Jean-Pierre Pirat. This 333-page volume contains an outstanding collection of colour maps of maritime boundaries, jurisdictional claims and disputes around the world, including claims to areas of continental shelf beyond 200 nautical miles. I have still to read the extensive written commentary that accompanies the maps, but the maps alone make this a highly-recommended resource for scholars of maritime boundaries, whether or not you are able to read French.
The atlas is available from http://www.editionstechnip.com/F/ortolland_atlas_geopolitique_espaces_1562.asp, and at €58 /US$70 I would say it is an absolute bargain.
Best wishes,
m a r t i n
