Associate Professor or Professor in Environmental Systems Analysis, specializing in impact assessment
Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim, Norway
The Industrial Ecology Programme at NTNU is seeking a candidate with experience in the assessment of environmental impacts of human activities, such as life-cycle impact assessment. The aim of the position is to strengthen research at the interface between environmental science and environmental systems analysis, so that industrial activity can be better adapted to planetary boundaries and resource availability. Of particular interest is the interface between sociometabolic models describing resource use and emissions caused by industrial and other human activity and models of ecosystem response, human health risk, and the resource base. The candidate should establish a high-profile research activity related to life-cycle impact assessment and/or environmental risk analysis. The candidate will be responsible for teaching subjects related to environmental systems analysis and its application in industry and public policy and for developing a research program on the assessment of environmental impacts of industrial activities. Initial teaching obligations involve establishing a bachelor level course in environmental systems analysis for mechanical and energy engineering students.
The candidate must have completed a PhD in industrial ecology or a related engineering or environmental science discipline and must have research experience evidenced by high quality publications in relevant scientific journals. We are looking for a candidate with competence relevant for life-cycle impact assessment and the evaluation of impacts of industrial activities on ecosystems, human health and resources. Experience with assessments of technologies is desirable. The candidate should also demonstrate an ability to supervise and initiate research and development work.
