Dear all

Only one week today until the joint DLNET/MCG conference 'Engaging digital audiences in museums'. Places are filling up fast but there are still some available so get in quick if you'd like to come. Book your place at: http://mcg-dlnet.eventbrite.com/. NB I'll be making the badges on Monday so if you'd like one of our super duper badges (complete with handy information about you for other people, but also your programme for the day and a delegates list, all in one handy badge), you'll need to register before then.

Also a reminder about the Manchester edition of #drinkingaboutmuseums (for background see http://www.meetup.com/coloradomuseums/ or http://openobjects.blogspot.com/2012/06/drinking-about-museums-new-york-edition.html) on July 10, the night before the conference. If you're in town we'd love to see you there! If you're planning on coming, please let Mia Ridge know ([log in to unmask]) to help plan numbers.

A quick reminder of the basic information about the conference is below.

Hope to see you all next Wednesday

Rhiannon (on behalf of the MCG and DLNET committees)

----------------------------------------

We just wanted to remind you all about the forthcoming conference, curated jointly by the Museums Computer Group and the Digital Learning Network. The conference will bring together the two worlds of museum technology and museum learning and encourage them to talk and learn from each others’ skills and experience. Museums are finding more and more ways to use digital technologies to enhance their learning and public engagement programmes. Technology has tremendous potential to engage, excite and inspire people, to make learning more flexible and to cater for different learning styles and abilities. In many museums, however, the work of learning departments and technology teams is still quite separate.

Museum technologists will learn about tried and tested techniques used by colleagues in Learning departments to measure the impact of digital projects on audiences. Learning teams will be inspired by the potential of digital technologies to achieve learning outcomes, audience engagement and reach.
