_Popular Music Heritage, Cultural Memory and Cultural Identity (POPID)_
Dear colleagues,
As part of a European collaborative project funded by the Humanities in
the European Research Area (HERA) researchers at the Institute of
Popular Music, University of Liverpool are conducting an online survey
to explore the role of popular music in shaping ideas of place, identity
and cultural memory amongst diverse audiences across England. In
addition we are conducting semi-structured interviews with selected
respondents and inviting participants to send us a 'mental map' of their
musical memories in order to obtain a more detailed insight into the
role of popular music in peoples' everyday lives and how music is
connected to memories and a sense of history, place and identity.
Any help list members can provide in terms of circulating information
about the survey and audience research, whether amongst additional
networks that might find it of interest, or individual colleagues who
may wish to participate in the research, would be very much appreciated.
Further information about the research and instructions for completion
of the survey or submission of a music memory map are available on the
POPID UK website (www.liv.ac.uk/music/research/POPID/
<http://www.liv.ac.uk/music/research/POPID/>). Any queries please
contact:[log in to unmask] <mailto:[log in to unmask]>.
Many thanks,
Les
