Stipend £15,848 (tax exempt, £2k enhanced over RCUK minimum)
We are seeking a self-motivated individual to work on a non-invasive research project aimed at developing new statistical methods for the control of nematode parasites, in conjunction with The Donkey Sanctuary. The aim of the project is to develop a process control system for monitoring parasite burdens in groups of grazing animals based on monthly individual animal worm egg count data and the age and past grazing history of each animal. Background in applied statistics, quantitative ecology or similar required, previous experience with statistical modeling and/or computer programming would be an advantage. Submission for the degree of MSc is expected. Successful applicant will be working within the Boyd Orr Centre for Population and Ecosystem Health (http://www.gla.ac.uk/boydorr/), so will be exposed to wider research interests and opportunities including potential PhD projects.
