Dear Mr Hennimore,
I've just seen this fantastic opportunity on the Archives-NRA and hope I
can be considered. Owing to decreasing opportunities in the public
sector I am looking for alternative employment and hope this internship
will provide me with suitable experience to make the change.
A summary of my skills is below and as a result of almost two decades in
archives I have:
1. Failed to make inroads into any cataloguing backlogs
2. Been ignorant of many features of CALM and other bespoke software
3. Pursued my own research interests/fetishes to the exclusion of other
records. The records of the landed gentry a particular speciality of
mine.
4. Left stuff in a trolley for weeks after I last required it
5. Left volunteers up to their own devices
6. Sent a variety of unhelpful replies to enquirers by post, email and
telephone.
7. Often brought in cakes which has, on occasion, led to undeserved
promotion.
References from those wishing to be rid of me are available upon
request.
