Subject: Conference news
Dear Members
The Executive and I would like to thank you for your attendance and positive contribution to the conference and AGM last week. The feedback we have received thus far has been overwhelmingly positive, and it's gratifying to know that the theme of our conference was one that not only generated debate, but also offered some support and guidance during these uncertain times. As we enter a period of radical change within the HE sector and potentially a sense of uncertainty within our own institutions the support of our colleagues through the APHE, may prove to be vital as we try to ride the storm (sorry, I'll try to avoid the sea based analogies again!) of full fee paying students, and how this will effect our relationship with them.
Just a couple of points for those of our colleagues who were unable to attend:
* Call for offers to host our next full AGM and conference, summer of 2013 (email Mark Cocks directly within the next two months).
* New website to be functional as soon as Heike is able to find the time to complete (we need between 5-10 people to offer an hour a week to populate and upkeep the site- email Heike directly).
* Interim AGM to be held at the RPS in Bath (thank you all at RPS for offering to host) date TBA, but will be in December or January.
* We welcome our new Treasurer, Judy Harrison from Portsmouth University, and would also like to thank Ronnie Inglis for doing such a sterling job during his duration within the position.
* Many of the papers/presentations that were given at the conference will soon be available to down load from the APHE website ASAP.
* Any outstanding institutional fee's to be sent to Ronnie Inglis in the short term, until the formal position hand over.
Finally on behalf of our members a big thank you goes to all of our guest speakers, Derby University as hosts, and to Heike for doing such a fantastic job making sure we were all well fed and accommodated.
I look forward to seeing those of you who can attend in Bath.
Best Regards
Conrad
