Job description :
The School of Computing and Mathematics, which is part of the Faculty of Science and Technology, wishes to appoint a Lecturer in Statistics. The School has responsibility for delivering courses in mathematics and statistics across a wide range of disciplines as well as on its own degree programmes. This post has arisen as a result of significant growth in student numbers, especially on mathematics based degree programmes but also in other subject areas.
You will be expected to contribute to the delivery of the School's range of teaching in statistics, to undertake research and to participate in its outreach activities.
Statistics staff undertake research in developing statistical methodology to solve problems in a range of modern applied areas. You would be expected to carry out research, which could be in any area of statistics but, ideally, in the areas in which the School is currently active.
You will hold a PhD in a relevant statistical area and to have evidence of carrying out high quality research or be able to demonstrate an aptitude for doing so. You will also be expected to play a full part in the range of other activities undertaken by this group of staff. Some teaching experience is essential and an interest in developing novel course delivery and assessment methods is desirable.
This is a full time position working 37 hours per week and is a permanent position.
