Abstract
The objective of Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) is to improve safety, comfort, efficiency and environmental performance by linking vehicles together and also linking them with roadside infrastructure. This seminar will show with examples how different technology components work together and how the system benefits can be assessed. For the R&D from National and International projects to reach deployment (and hence for the benefits to be experienced by users), a number of non-technical issues also have to be addressed. As will be described, not the least of these is the need to develop sustainable deployment scenarios such that all the necessary stakeholders will collaborate. The seminar will conclude by discussing the requirements and development of business models in this challenging area.
