You are warmly invited to an Institute for Transport Studies seminar:
A Multi-objective Transit Trip Itinerary Planning System using GIS for Bangalore City
Dr. Ashish Verma
Assistant Professor
Department of Civil Engineering,
Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India
Thursday 21st June, 5-6pm, ITS Lecture Theatre, 36-40 University Road
Abstract: This talk will present development of a multi objective transit trip planner system for Bangalore city by integrating GIS processing, network analysis, user interfacing and database management. The trip planner uses a generalized cost (GC) approach which is especially important in the Indian scenario, where the various modes of transport are not harmonized and transfers between modes may take a long time. The proposed planner gives users trip options based on either the shortest path or a generalized cost. The users are presented with a graphical output on Google Maps as well as a text output with directions.
