People shouldn't be over concerned about this - a default settings basic
iperf run shifts about as many gigabytes as you're going to get gigabits/per
second, so realistically no likely to be more that eight gigabytes. As long
as you're not running them in a loop or the like that shouldn't add much to
anyone's traffic, and it'll be over in about ten seconds in any case.
This is very different to the sort of case that Ian was describing for the
RAL PerfSonar box, which is actively running tests for an appreciable fraction
of the time.
