Job Title: Urban Laboratory Curatorial Assistant (Cities Methodologies)
Department: UCL Urban Laboratory
Reports to: Ben Campkin, Director, UCL Urban Laboratory/Laura Hirst UCL
Urban Laboratory Administrator.
Grade: 6 spine point 24, 12 days at approx. £107.05 per day, including
full-time 2-7 July.
Contract: As and when, 12 days in the first instance.
Closing Date: Wed 13 June 2012.
Main Purpose:
To assist with the organisation and running of Cities Methodologies 2012,
a 4- day exhibition and events programme showcasing innovative methods of
urban research, taking place from 4th-7th July at UCL.
Main duties and Responsibilities:
1. To assist with preparatory administration and promotion of the
exhibition and events, including design of promotional materials.
2. To coordinate the delivery, installation, and dismounting of exhibits
and equipment, providing hands-on support to exhibitors.
3. To provide AV support for the exhibition and events, in liaison with
UCL, Bartlett and Slade AV Managers, e.g. collection and logging of
equipment, installation, and setting up exhibits each day.
4. To coordinate the day-to-day management of the exhibition space, being
on-site during opening hours, and providing support to exhibitors, event
organisers, speakers and visitors.
5. To produce an archive to document the exhibition, and to help design
the methodology underpinning the collation of visual/textual material for
the archive.
We are looking for an enthusiastic UCL postgraduate/graduate research
student (masters or MPhil/PhD candidate), working on an urban research
topic, or another relevant field, to undertake this role.

Experience in using InDesign/Adobe Photoshop, and excellent communications
and organization skills, are essential; experience in curatorial work
and/or events management will be helpful.
