I did not read the digest. I read in the order in which they arrive, and when I get round to it.
Toby's excellent news about the London Living Wage rate carries the header "Date: Thu, 28 Jun 2012 14:25:35". Your response was sent "2012-June-28 23:33", long after an outbreak of enthusiastic applauding for the BSA's response to earlier grumpy messages..
Then again, I have seen servers sit on messages for quite some time before unleashing them on the world. Perhaps your response languished in India for half a day. Or somewhere in a bank's computer system.

Hello Michael,
Late in the day? Some of us prefer to read the list in digest form
rather than have constant email interruptions. Which is probably why you
saw both my message and the decision to pay London wage in the same
digest ....
Could havoc be wrought? I'm not really sure how.
P M Hunt, or hmptnu to you!
