A reminder of exhibition opening this week at the Ruskin Gallery in Cambridge School of Art, Anglia Ruskin University and the Private View hich will take place from 6-8 pm on Thursday 21st June.
The ten digital screens of the Gallery will show work from across three decades by William Latham as well as a special video installation created by Ernest Edmonds called 'Energy Ruskin'. Ernest says: 'it is impossible to see all ten movies at the same time. Something is always happening behind one's back'. It has an accompanying sound track 'Alan Turing: A Portrait in Sound' by Martin. A. Smith. The work opens on the eve of Turing's cententary.
In the Ruskin studios, three works by Eduardo Kac are being shown including his rarely seen Ad Huc, holopoem; courtesy of Jonathan Ross gallery in London; a new work called CODA which forms the completion to his Natural History of the Enigma series and a work in progress demo of a conductive painting, commissioned by Visualise Cambridge, made with bio-conductive ink made by a young London design company and circuitry invented by ARM a Cambridge-based technology company which has never before been used within the context of an artwork. The conductive painting encourages you to touch using an alphabet of gestures. A live coding performance by Alex McLean will also help launch the exhibition as well as a short talk by Professor Maggie Boden on the history of computer art.
I do hope to see you there. For more details please see www.visualisecambridge.org
with all best wishes
