MESSAGE FOLLOWS:
"Shaping Liveness in Song Performance: a performer-audience paradigm"
- What is "liveness" and what role (if any) might it play in the shaping of music in performance?
- Do audience members act jointly with performers to shape music creatively in performance?
Please joint us for a series of innovative experimental song performance workshops that will explore these and related questions through live performance, mediated performance, short talks, and extended open discussion. The workshops will also feature interactive sessions between performers and audience designed to explore how far they may (or may not) influence each other's creative responses.
Venue: King's College, London (recital room), Strand campus.
Times: Tuesdays (fortnightly from 12 June), 2.00-4.30pm (with complimentary tea break)
Presenters: Dr Kathryn Whitney (singer, CMPCP Visiting Fellow), Dr Daniel Leech-Wilkinson (King's), Dr Helen Prior (King's), Mats Kuessner (King's)
Workshop 1 (12 June): Shaping Liveness in Song Performance in Concert: a performer-audience paradigm
Workshop 2 (26 June): The Morphology of Liveness: performer-audience interaction in live vs. video recorded song performance
Workshop 3 (10 July): The Mechanism of Liveness: audience expressivity and the shaping of musical content in live vs. video recorded song performance.
All are welcome! We hope you will join us for these interesting and interactive events.
