ALPSP Webinar - Authoring and Collaboration Tools : What are they, and why
should I care?
When: Tuesday 26 June 2012 at 2:00pm - 3:30pm UK
(9:00 - 10:30am ET NY; 3:00 - 4:30pm CEST)
Presenters:
Matt McKay, Mendeley
Martin Fenner, PLoS
Overview:
The expansion of digital storage and access to the web has significantly
increased researchers' options around project management, data set storage
and manuscript writing. With tools running the gamut from blogs to social
citation sharing and open lab books to collaborative authoring, we will look
at some of the key research collaboration tools available, and ask what
publishers can and should be doing with them.
*
what new authorship and collaboration tools are authors using?
*
what are the niggling issues related to these tools from a
researcher's perspective?
*
how does the technology differ between these tools and current
mainstream tools?
*
How can publishers help authors to use these tools?
*
What are the benefits to publishers of helping authors to use these
tools?
Who should attend:
Publishers, journal editors and technical managers in STM and the social
sciences who need to be aware of the emerging tools and technology around
research and authoring collaborations, and how they affect publishers'
workflows.
