I'm organising a free workshop on editing and improving medical content on Wikipedia.
Date/Time: Friday 31st August 2012 09:30 - 16:30
Venue: Clinical Sciences Building, University Hospital, Clifford Bridge Road, Coventry CV2 2DX
Millions of people look up medical information on Wikipedia, but how reliable and trustworthy is it? Here's your chance to get involved and contribute to improving the quality and evidence base of Wikipedia's medical content.
This Medical Wiki Workshop Day is in collaboration with Wikimedia UK , Wikimedia Canada and the Global Education Program, focusing on editing and improving the medical content on Wikipedia. We will be looking at finding and critically appraising the best clinical evidence, including a presentation by Jon Brassey of TRIP Database, followed by plenty of hands-on practice in Wikipedia editing.
The editing will be led by Dr. James Heilman of Wikimedia Canada. James is a Consultant in Emergency Medicine and teaches at the University of British Columbia and University of Saskatchewan in Canada. He is one of the most active and prolific editors in WikiProject Medicine. He has lectured and facilitated Wikipedia workshops in many countries worldwide.
This free workshop will be of benefit to clinicians, researchers, library & information professionals, medical, nursing & allied health students.
