italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies
Dear all,
The latest round of recruitment for the Birmingham Fellows has now begun. The full details can be found at:
http://www.birmingham.ac.uk/staff/excellence/fellows/index.aspx
The University is appointing around 25 fellows this time. The deadline is 27 August: longlisting and shortlisting will take place in September and the interviews will be in the week commencing 15 October. The process is likely to be extremely competitive.
As with last time, the Fellowships are being advertised using a long list of ‘priority areas’, as you can see on our website. The ones that are likely to be of interest to Italianists (i.e. ‘Language, Texts and Performance’ and ‘Europe’s role in the world’) have been made as broad as possible in order to be as inclusive as possible. Candidates who do not fit these themes should apply nonetheless: the key thing is excellence of profile, however it would help your application greatly if you could show that your work complements existing strengths at Birmingham.
On our website you will find the contact details of colleagues who are answering queries concerning different themes. You should start by contacting them, if interested.
Please note that these posts constitute in effect five years of research plus a guaranteed job/lectureship at the end. This offer is not just for post-docs or research fellows but for anyone at a relatively early stage of their career (e.g colleagues in temporary lectureship posts, or colleagues simply wishing to move to Birmingham).
If these jobs are not for you but you know of excellent candidates who could be interested in applying, we would be very grateful if you forward this email to them, too.
With best wishes
Daniele
