Dear All,
My colleagues Robert Hopkins and Robert Stern (Philosophy, Sheffield)
have asked me to pass on this lecture invitation to you.
ATB,
Henk de Berg
Talk by
Robert B. Pippin (University of Chicago, Committee on Social Thought):
"Malick's 'The Thin Red Line' & Understanding War"
Time: Thursday 14 June, 6.30pm
Venue: Humanities Research Institute
Robert Pippin is one of America's best-known and most distinguished
philosophers. In addition to books on Hegel and Kant, he has written
extensively on Henry James and on Marcel Proust. He has also published
two books on American film, one on the Western and one on film noir.
This will not be a highly specialised "for philosophers only" lecture:
Pippin is a brilliant speaker, who's used to giving papers to
non-specialist audiences.
