Job Details
The Department wishes to appoint a full-time Lecturer in German for a fixed term of one semester to cover research leave. The post is available from 1 September 2012 until 31 January 2013 in the first instance, but may be extended subject to the availability of further funding. The successful applicant will be required to teach and assess the following undergraduate modules: Year 1 and Year 2 German Language (written skills strands), Year 1 module on 19th and early 20th century German history and culture (The Making of Modern Germany), Year 2 module on representations of Germany (Gender, Nation and Identity) and one University-wide language module for non-specialists. This will equate to 12 hours of teaching per week. The successful applicant will have native or near-native competence in German and experience of relevant teaching in Higher Education would be desirable. The successful applicant must have completed or be nearing completion of a PhD in a relevant area of German Studies. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic early career individual with an interest in gaining teaching experience alongside their research interests.
