Dear members of the Forced Migration listserv,
On behalf of the Rio+20 Unemployment, Decent Work and Migration Dialogue and the facilitators, Professor Neville Ying, Professor Stephen Hamilton and Professor Eduardo Rios-Neto Luiz Gonçalves, I would like to thank you for your contributions to the discussions and for actively posting recommendations in the past weeks. On Sunday, the ten recommendations with the highest number of supporters were identified and are now accessible to the public at http://vote.riodialogues.org/.
Overall, the lively discussions in the 10 Dialogues generated over 843 recommendations which were submitted by 10,000+ participants from 206 countries, garnering 11,842 indications of support. Now is the time for all of us to vote for the recommendations that you consider to be the most important. The 100 most supported recommendations are open for global public voting as of 5 June. Visit http://vote.riodialogues.org/ and select the ideas that you consider to be the most important. 10 recommendations from the Unemployment, Decent Work and Migration Dialogue with the highest number of supporters were also identified and posted on the public voting website, displayed randomly.
The votes will inform the recommendations for sustainable development that are presented to the heads of state at the Rio+20 Conference in Rio de Janeiro at the end of June. To ensure that the key points of the top ten recommendations are captured and brought to the attention of the Sustainable Development Dialogues, Professor Ying is currently working on a presentation and a comprehensive report that include the main elements of the top ten recommendations. The presentation and the report will not only include the key points of the recommendations but also a summary of the online discussions on Unemployment, Decent Work and Migration.
Please tell your colleagues, friends, family, networks and community to visit http://vote.riodialogues.org/ and “Vote for the Future We Want.” Kindly note that voting closes June 15th 2012. You may notice that the number of votes are not currently visible on the site. However, we will inform you about the outcome of the process and the top three recommendations after June 15th when the public voting closes.
You can also revisit the Unemployment, Decent Work and Migration Dialogue at https://www.riodialogues.org/login?destination=node%2F214401 and continue engaging in the discussion!
With kind regards,
Sarah Rattray
