Can you not spare one class for a dialogue between Hawks and Fred
Zinnemann? Specifically the movies Rio Bravo for Hawks and High Noon
for Zinnermann. It's really fascinating how Rio Bravo seems to
"answer" the thesis put forth in High Noon, and specially if you're
going into the subject of "authorship", two movies that directly have
a dialogue with each other can be fascinating when seen from the
"auteur" perspective.
Does anybody know of a case of Ford doing this with Hawks? Did they
ever shoot movies that seemed to touch of the same topics but with
vastly different thesis (or simply points of views?)
Just a thought.
