Theo - I have written similar articles for The Voice (Federation of
Deaf People), from 2000 - 2004. Focusing on how much deaf people are
worth to the economy The Voice was an activist magazine, so my
writing style was as such (not academic, rather activist).
There's probably a couple of posts I've written on Grumpy Old Deafies
too, e..g. http://www.grumpyoldeafies.com/2009/03/report_on_world_audiolgocial_d.html
Have to say, those were written in a totally different climate to the
one we have now - where it somewhat feels like justification of
existence. How times have changed.
