Three-year full time PhD studentship in e-health at Plymouth University
Applications are invited from candidates with at least a first degree in psychology or other social science (upper second or first) for a 3 year full time PhD studentship at Plymouth University under the supervision of Professor Ray Jones<http://www.plymouth.ac.uk/staff/r5jones> (who leads the e-health research group<http://www.plymouth.ac.uk/research/ehealth>) and Professor Janet Richardson<http://www.plymouth.ac.uk/staff/j4richardson> (who leads the Sustainability, Society and Health research group<http://www.plymouth.ac.uk/researchcover/rcp.asp?pagetype=G&page=340>).

The topic for the PhD will be “A factorial design cluster trial to assess the ability of implementation of superfast broadband and community interventions to improve use of e-health and reduce health related car travel.” Field work will be in Cornwall. The candidate must be highly IT/Internet proficient and highly numerate (although the study will be mixed methods). Candidates with previous research experience or training will be at an advantage.
The studentship pays for fees (at the UK home student rate) and provides a £13590/year stipend for the student for three years. Selection will be a two stage process. Applications are by standard application form. Closing date for applications 12pm Friday August 10th. Shortlisted candidates will be notified by Wednesday 15th August and will be invited to undertake a written test, presentation, and interviews on Friday August 17th in Plymouth. The student would start his/her study on October 1st.
