The University of Surrey is seeking applications from exceptional academics for two appointments in the Department of Sociology. You will join a Department that is consistently ranked world-class, was rated joint 6th in the last RAE and consistently achieves top scores in the NSS.
Applicants for both posts should be able to make a strong contribution to at least one of the Department’s research groups: Developments in Methodology; Criminology and Criminal Justice; Identities, Generation and Everyday Life; Media, Culture and Communication; Work, Organisations and Inequalities; and Science, Environment and Technologies. Applicants are also welcome who can contribute to one of the two research centres based in the Department: the Centre for Research on Simulation in the Social Sciences and the Centre for Research on Ageing and Gender.

Salary up to £34 895
You should hold a relevant doctoral degree or have submitted your thesis. You will have a developing profile of high-quality publications, experience of teaching in higher education and the ability to make a substantial contribution to courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Reader/Professor in Sociology Ref 8791
Salary from £55 908
You should have an excellent track record in both teaching and research. You should also have strong leadership qualities, as the successful applicant will be expected to take on the role of Director of Research within the Department.
