Extend your skills in modeling and measurement with these upcoming online courses at Statistics.com:
Jun 29 - Jul 27: "Advanced SEM" with Randall Schumacker
Jul 6 - Aug 3: "Rasch Measurement - Further Topics" with Everett Smith
“Advanced Structural Equation Modeling (SEM),” which presupposes some basic familiarity with SEM, covers a number of models, including Multiple Indicator and Multiple Causes (MIMIC), multilevel (HLM), mixture, structured means, multitrait-multimethod, second order factor, interaction, latent variable growth curve, and dynamic factor.
The instructor, Randall Schumacker, a professor at the University of Alabama, is the co/author of a number of standard texts on SEM. Dr. Schumacker was the founder, of “Structural Equation Modeling: A Multidisciplinary Journal.” He also founded the Structural Equation Modeling Special Interest Group at the American Educational Research Association.
“Rasch Measurement – Further Topics,” explores topics in Rasch theory and application, beyond those covered in the introductory course "Practical Rasch Measurement-Core Topics." Coverage includes missing data, detection and identification of secondary dimensions, construct and predictive validity, pathway maps, and differential item functioning (DIF). Stress is placed on effective communication of findings. Participants are encouraged to analyze their own datasets in parallel to the course datasets.
The instructor, Everett V. Smith Jr., Professor of Educational Psychology at the University of Illinois at Chicago, is co-editor of "Introduction to Rasch Measurement: Theory, Models, and Applications," "Rasch Measurement: Advanced and Specialized Applications," and more. He serves as the Associate Editor for the "Journal of Applied Measurement" and is on the editorial boards of "Educational and Psychological Measurement" and the "Journal of Nursing Measurement." Dr. Smith is responsible for the development of the Ph.D. specialization and M.Ed. programs in Measurement Evaluation Statistics and Assessment (MESA); the online M.Ed. in MESA program; and the online Educational Research Methodology certificate program at UIC.
Each course will require about 15 hours per week and there are no set hours when you must be online. The instructors will be available to course participants throughout the course period via a private discussion forum.
