Hello
Apologies if you hear about this through several routes – but we’re really
excited about our plans for the future and we want to share them. The
Visitor Studies Group is a dedicated community of Visitor Studies
professionals. We promote dialogue, facilitate debate and through
skills-sharing opportunities provide continuing professional development.
We’ve recently completed our Strategic Action Plan and invite you to
review it (http://visitors.org.uk/node/32) and consider joining the
community. Whether our members are based in a museum, gallery, science
centre, botanic gardens, zoo, university or other organisation that works
with the public, we are being asked to provide evidence to support our
claims. Visitor Studies help to provide that evidence that ultimately
improves the visitor experience.
In the last two years the VSG has developed a reputation as being the 'go
to' organisation for all things related to audience research. To name a
few, we’ve:
Contributed to the BBC’s Reith Lectures
EU Conferences for the Science Centre and Museum sectors
and research bids looking at the value of co-produced museum exhibitions.
The strength of this reputation comes directly from our members who
undertake, support and listen to audience research and are prepared to
contribute to these approaches by showcasing their work. If you haven’t
already, join the community by joining the VSG, attending an event,
sharing your work during an event or getting in touch with the committee
with other ideas for professional development opportunities.
Do get in touch, we look forward to hearing from you and to working with
you over the coming years as we develop and deliver the action plan.
Best wishes
Helen
