Dear all,
Can anyone recommend any short courses, or online courses running as soon as possible for developing a knowledge of research ethics for government sector research, e.g. research with public groups with large sample sizes.
I am an anthropologist with a basic understanding of quantitative methods wanted to improve my knowledge quite quickly!
I'd be very grateful for any advice.
Thanks very much.
Best wishes,
Cathy Baldwin

Subject: Annual conference 2012 - Call for papers
# with apologies for cross-posting #
The Social Research Association Annual Conference:
‘Social Research in the Digital Age’
Conference date: Monday 10th December 2012. Venue: British Library, London
The SRA annual conference is where social researchers from many sectors and disciplines share experiences and learn from one another. This year we broadly consider the effect of the ‘digital revolution’ on social research, and this Call for Papers covers a range of topics within that heading. For example:
• The impact of ‘digital’ on quantitative or qualitative research
• Related methodological developments and innovations
• The visualisation and presentation of research findings
• Data collection, and data management
• The ethical issues raised by new forms of research enquiry
• Good practice examples of innovative research
• Dissemination strategies which present findings digitally.
Each Workshop presentation is 20 minutes long and is followed by a 10 minute Q&A. There will be a total of up to 16 presentations, in simultaneously-run workshops in the morning and afternoon.
If you have an idea for a presentation that does not readily fit one of the above, let us know what it is so we can consider its relevance. We are looking for informative presentations and workshops from across the varied organisations and contexts in which social researchers work. At the heart of the SRA is a commitment to promote and disseminate high quality social research by practising social researchers. We also value debate and the exchange of ideas, and welcome presentations that will engage with conference attendees.
Presenters will receive a discount on the delegate fee.
Please email your abstract of not more than 500 words to
