The next Public Sector Group meeting will be held on Thursday October 4th 2012 at the Westminster Archives Centre in London.
The theme of the meeting is "The Paperless Office: Myth or Reality". The meeting is being sponsored by TNT Business Solutions.
The meeting will begin at 9:00am.
Legal admissibility of electronic documents has always played a large part in any discussion about moving into a paperless environment. Alan Shipman (Group 5 Training), the author of the "Code of Practice for Legal Admissibility and Evidential Weight of Information Stored Electronically" will be our keynote speaker, and he will be presenting on whether electronic documents can be used in court with confidence.
Use of the Cloud is now floating across the horizon of many records managers, Marc Fresko (Inforesight) will be speaking about the using the cloud and what happens if the cloud bursts. This will be looking at both sides of the use of the Cloud. Marc is an expert in managing electronic records and was the author of MOREQ2.
TNT Business Solutions will be presenting about creating and managing records in a dynamic, digital environment using a case study. This will include digital mailrooms and scanning as well as making the system work.
This will be followed by a sandwich lunch.
After lunch, we have a speaker who will be looking at the paperless office from a user perspective. Marc Barber is a Chartered Chemist working for a Global Pharmaceutical Company. In the twenty years that Marc has been working for the company they have moved from a completely paper based system to an electronic system and he will be sharing his insights from a user perspective.
Following this Richard Jeffrey Cook (Inform Consult) who is an acknowledged expert on Sharepoint 2010 will be looking at Sharepoint 2010 as a tool for the paperless office.
The meeting is free of charge. Preferential booking will be given to IRMS members until 2 weeks before the event. Non members are welcome to express an interest in the event, please let me know and I'll confirm 2 weeks before the event whether places are available.
