Yes he's almost exclusively talking about the UK - Andrew has a blind-
spot when it comes to North America. But it's a really good book.
Duncan does not do what other people do. He is a poetry historian. He
does not say what other people say - he is a mobile opinion machine
that roots into places others have ignored or just glossed over. He
takes nothing for granted - there are no 'givens' in his project.
There is a 'method' in his 'madness', so to speak, or at least I think
there is - many disagree of course.
Unlike other critics Duncan gets under the skin of the literary into
the sociological contexts that underpin the models poets use. A lot of
people don't like that because it bypasses their usual set of
metaphors for literary production etc.
